Icefields Parkway
The next leg of the journey through the Canadian Rocky Mountains was following the Icefields Parkway that runs from Lake Louise to Jasper. It’s a journey of approximately 230 kilometres along Highway 93 North passing through spectacular scenery giving a great opportunity to appreciate stunning glaciers, lakes and mountains on the way.
The day’s focus was the hike to Peyto Lake and the roadside climb to spectacular view points from below Hilda Peak.
Peyto Lake
The short and easy hike to Lake Peyto yields great rewards. The subtle colours of the lake are outstanding.
Mount Athabasca and Hilda Peak
An hour’s hike from the roadside below Mount Athabasca and Hilda Peak leads to great close up views of mountains and glaciers.
