The town of Takayama …. is becoming an increasingly popular destination due to its well-preserved central streets and buildings.

Kanazawa is a charming small city with a laid-back feel to it. The park to the castle makes for a great place to chill out and people-watch.

I made a quick round trip to Himeji Castle, Hiroshima, Miyajima, and Kinosaki Onsen. I gave myself a week to get back to Kyoto for the main celebrations…

Kyoto is a former capital city of Japan best known for its historic quarters, old temples, meticulous gardens, and long-standing geisha district.

Nearby, Oshino and The Sacred Eight Ponds made a wonderful place to unwind with direct views of Mount Fuji from my room.

Tokyo …… offers a multitude of very different sights and experiences which makes it such an exciting place to visit.
