The Baltic states or The Baltic countries usually refers to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The three countries regained their independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 and are now members of the European Union (EU). Following lockdown in 2020 in my homeland, Spain, The Baltic countries were one of the few areas where it was possible to travel.

Life … also seemed to be reaching out for normality. The summer sun was out and the people of Kaunas were once again enjoying their outdoor café society.
