Charyn Canyon – Kazakhstan

Charyn Canyon – Kazakhstan – is well worth the three hour ride to get there from Almaty. There are several minibuses per day to and from the edge of the canyon. As a good six hours are spent on the road, it is best to leave early to get plenty of time to enjoy this magnificent canyon and the river that it leads to.

Bring a hat, something to protect the back of your neck, and lots of water. During the summer the heat is relentless. The walk through the canyon is uplifting and beautiful – a great way to spend a day of your life!
