The Banff National Park covers a huge area, 6641 square kilometres! After a couple of nights based at the campsite outside of Banff, our next step was to drive the 60 kilometres to Lake Louise. We spent the next couple of days exploring Lake Louise and Yoho National Park.

The view of Mount Victoria with its glistening glacier feeding into Lake Louise is mesmerising. It is a joy just taking it all in.

A day of hiking in Yoho National Park gave us more amazing views! We headed to Burgess Pass via Emerald Lake. The President Mountain and its glaciers create a dramatic approach to the pass.

A wonderful feature of Yoho National Park are the glimpses of bold mountains through the forest trails.

Arriving at Yoho Lake was a real treat. Its stillness and the brilliant reflections are breath taking.

The surprises didn’t end there. The Takakkaw Falls are Canada’s second highest waterfalls. The power of the falls made a moving contrast to the serenity of Yoho Lake that we had enjoyed barely an hour before.
